An Engineering Design and Construction Management firm has an immediate opening for a Project Engineer for an assignment located in White Plains, NY. The Project Engineer must have 10+ years of Engineering and Construction experience. The Engineer will be responsible for preparing project plans as well as coordinating, inspecting, and controlling the work of vendors/contractors assigned to perform work at client facilities throughout New York. Individual will be assigned to plan and oversee development and implementation of projects associated with clientâs Transmission System such as: â¢ Substation Upgrades â¢ Painting of Transmission Structures â¢ Submarine Cable Replacement â¢ Corten Steel Reinforcement The Engineer must possess knowledge of project management, construction techniques, construction management, and contract administration. The Engineer must have knowledge to be able to inspect in-progress construction work. The Engineer must have good interpersonal skills. The Engineer will be called upon to interface and coordinate work on a daily basis with other NYPA divisions, stakeholders and external organizations in order to develop project plans, including, but not limited to, schedules, funding requests, and risk mitigation. Required software experience includes: MS Office (Project, PowerPoint, Excel and Word) and become familiar with clientâs SAP system. The Engineer must be willing to travel to other client facilities throughout the state and vendor facilities. Additional responsibilities include: Coordinate review of design documents; Assist in monitoring cost, schedule, progress and technical quality of the project. Assist in coordinating project invoicing, budget contracts and accounting. Provide support during installation and start-up of the project including interface with engineering and facility staff to ensure that the project is operable and maintainable. Verify contractorâs performance against specifications, codes and drawings. Implement and manage the Configuration Management Policy requirements during projects. Anticipate field office construction restraints and initiate corrective action. Prepare and issue project status and progress reports. Provide periodic inspections of all work in place. Provide assistance during the client/Contractor or Vendor estimate negotiation process. Review new contract specifications and drawings to insure that designed work is constructible. Prepare recommendations to achieve cost reductions and to minimize AWRâs and change orders during the course of the work. Review and make recommendations on all payment items, including partial payments (contactor & vendor invoices), change orders and claim issues. Review status of project to assure scheduled completion of project activities. Recommend any action which must be taken to assure the timely, well-constructed, and budgeted completion of the project. Review and comment on bid packages prepared by Architect-Engineers to assure design adequacy and constructability.
