Medical Assistant/Front Desk

HOURS: 5 - 10 AM, Sat. 6 - 9 AM & Federal Holidays 6 - 9 AM As a Medical Assistant for Community Medical Services you will perform different tasks that help increase efficiency and serve patients quickly, take medical histories and record vital signs, explain treatment procedures to patients, and collect RPR, TB, and drug screening tests. You will also: Collect and prepare laboratory specimens/perform basic laboratory tests on the premises, and be able to safely dispose of used syringes, bodily fluids/samples, and other biomedical materials Arrange examining-room instruments and equipment Orders and maintain supplies and equipment Maintain patient records Maintain a clean and organized work space As a Front Office assistant you will greets and receive all patients coming into the clinic, and address all patient questions, concerns and issues, and refer patients to the appropriate staff memeber as needed. You will also: Answer all incoming phone calls for the clinic, taking messages when appropriate Schedule medical and clinical appointments for all patients Monitor the clinic lobby and assist with smooth check in, dosing, clinical and medical appointments Verify insurance eligibility, setup profiles in Electronic Health Record and coordinate care with home Opioid Treatment Program initiating patient services via phone, email and fax. Receive all fees for service from private paying patients, including maintaining accurate and complete financial records within computer system Send all information requested to the business manager and to adjust when appropriate. Completes required financial paperwork in a timely fashion Set up telemedicine equipment to ensure connection to CMS staff from another location Engage in community outreach, as necessary, to educate the community on medication-assisted treatment and assist in increasing referrals for individuals to obtain appropriate services. type and create original documents, send emails, and place phone calls to schedule appointments, update and file patient's medical records, fill out insurance forms, handle correspondence and handle billing and bookkeeping attend to meetings, trainings and assist in decision making related to policy or procedure changes as well as other duties as assigned by Clinic Manager MEDICAL ASSISTANT/FRONT OFFICE COMPETENCIES Culturally competent and sensitive to patients individualized treatment needs. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff and management Ability to communicate clearly and effectively between all staff competencies and positions. Ability to interact with patients in a friendly, helpful, and courteous manner Ability to resolve and assist with patient altercations and crisis episodes. Maintain professional appearance and personal conduct at all times Strong organizational and interpersonal skills MEDICAL ASSISTANT/FRONT OFFICE QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or the equivalent Certified as a medical assistant in region of employment with front office experience Graduates of formal program in medical assisting, focus of study in a healthcare field and medical specialty a plus. Experience in clinical facility management is required. Basic computer knowledge and knowledge of electronic health records (EHR) basics Remarkable grammar, spelling, and punctuation and knowledge of medical terminology Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections
