Pre-K Director - Trailwood Elementary

Johnson County Park & Recreation District is seeking a proven leader who enjoys working in a fast-paced, high profile, and progressive environment to join its Gold Medal Team as the District continues unprecedented growth through the development of new parks, trails, recreation facilities, programs and events. Responsible for daily care and administration of children in before, PreK enrichment, and after school program located within the elementary school setting. Screens, hires, trains, and develops all staff associated with program. Purchase program supplies, equipment, and food items within budgetary guidelines. Ensure the general health, welfare, and well-being of each child. Plan daily lessons and maintain Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) requirements for both staff and children. Schedule and accompany off-site field trips. Responsible for being a good communicator to all children, parents, administration, supervisors, and co-workers, providing excellent customer service. Enroll and attend 16 hours of off-site in-service annually. Learn and observe all JCPRD guidelines, policies, and procedures. Days/Hours: M-F; 10:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. Qualifications Educational Requirements: Required - Bachelor’s degree required in Education, Physical Education, Administration of Parks and Recreation, Early Childhood, Child Psychology, or relevant field. Professional Experience: Required – 1-year experience in Early Childhood Education and/or school age children in organized setting. Required Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices. Self-motivation and ability to prioritize personal responsibilities and accomplish job tasks with autonomy from close supervision. Leadership and supervisory skills.
