FREE Ukulele + Training for Olathe Classroom TK/K-5th Grade Teachers!
Hello, Olathe Teachers! Funded by a grant from the Country Music Association Foundation, Guitars in the Classroom (GITC) would like to invite a few motivated TK/K-5th grade teachers to join other Olathe-area teachers to begin to learn to play ukulele, guitar, sing, and to lead Songs for Literacy and Learning with the students in their classrooms. Music engages all learners, improves participation, boosts listening and speaking skills, and unites students from diverse cultures in singing together. GITC provides access, training, and support to make music a part of learning every day. Thanks to the CMA Foundation and our instrument sponsors, everything being offered is given free of charge for Olathe teachers, and NO PRIOR MUSIC EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. The GITC approach is easy, gentle, and it works! Once we get a cohort of Olathe teachers learning together, we will schedule subsequent free workshops this summer, then teachers can continue learning in the fall if they wish. Our non-profit is 18 years old and we have now trained 13,000 teachers nationwide. Each teacher will get to keep a COMPLEMENTARY UKULELE for completing the training and will also get resources for acquiring more instruments and supplies as well as songs that support standards-based instruction in English Language Arts. We will offer guitar in the Summer or Fall. If possible, invite and register with another teacher friend so you have a "music buddy" with whom to practice and grow. Please register right away at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GITCKS . Space is limited to only 12 participants each training session! Beginner Workshop Dates: Saturdays, April 21st and 28th (sign up for just one) Time: 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Location: Olathe Public Library (Main Branch), 201 E. Park St., Olathe, KS 66061 Enrollment: Each class is limited to 12 TK/K-5th grade teachers and specialists TEACHERS: Please choose ONE session to attend by registering for at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GITCKS. Registration will close as soon as 12 teachers have signed up for each workshop. We are excited to support you to bring more music to the teaching and learning process in general education!
